In every case the bar is well below criminal court's.
How does JWU handle academic integrity and AI?
Academic integrity is separate from the general conduct process. Notably, academic-integrity violations are not noted on your transcript.
How do I appeal a conduct decision at JWU?
You submit an appeal within five business days through the online form, on just two grounds: relevant new information that was not available at the hearing and could reasonably have altered the finding, or a materially prejudicial failure to follow the Conduct Review Process. Importantly, disagreement with the sanction itself is not a ground for appeal. Appeals are decided within ten business days. Who approves a dismissal at Johnson & Wales?
A hearing officer determines responsibility and recommends sanctions, but the most serious outcomes require higher approval: a University Dismissal or a degree rescission must be approved by the campus Vice President of Student Affairs / Dean of Students, while other sanctions are approved by the Director of Community Standards and Conduct — generally within 15 business days. Because the approving authority rarely modifies the recommendation, the hearing itself is the pivotal moment, and preparation for it matters.
Does a JWU sanction reach all campuses?
Yes for the most serious ones. University Dismissal is permanent, is noted in your education records, and bars attendance at any JWU campus, learning site, or online program; University Suspension is a temporary bar from the university and its events. Because JWU operates across Providence, Charlotte, and Online under a single Code, a separation follows you across the whole institution — which is one reason these cases warrant a serious response.
