What is the standard of proof at SUU?
SUU applies the preponderance-of-the-evidence standard, defined as more likely than not, or more than 50 percent in favor, across its Student Conduct Code, Academic Misconduct policy, and Sexual Misconduct (Title IX) policy. Because this is the lowest standard of proof, how the evidence is framed and how you prepare your response are central to the outcome.
How do I appeal a conduct decision at SUU?
You appeal within five business days of receiving the written notification, on four grounds: a denial of adequate and fair due process that caused a material error, the policy applied in a clearly erroneous manner, a sanction not appropriate for the violation, or new evidence not reasonably available at the time. The appeal officer is the Dean of Students for administrative decisions or the Vice President for Student Affairs for panel decisions, and that decision is final. Expulsion requires approval at the vice-presidential level.
Are SUU's aviation and nursing programs handled differently?

In aviation, a student suspected of violating Standard Operating Procedures is grounded until a final determination, and SOP violations can lead to dismissal.
